Brent G, Bailey, Sr. is the lead guitarist and co-founder of Opus 23. While his musical interests are wide, he is most at home with smooth jazz, R&B and gospel. He picked up his first guitar as a "military brat" in an Army base Post Exchange at 12 years old. He primarily played rock, folk rock, as well as church music through his teen years. One day he heard Ernie Isley and was hooked on R&B. Later at Morehouse College, he was introduced to the music of George Benson, Zachary Breaux and Earl Klugh...his greatest influences. Upon college graduation, he accepted a commission in the Air Force and began his own military journey playing in bands, churches, and venues all around the world for over 20 years. He met Ron Finney (bassist and co-founder of Opus 23) at a local jazz venue and sat in with his band while assigned to the Pentagon. Upon retirement from the Air Force, he remained in the DC area until 2008 playing behind some notable jazz and gospel artists. He relocated home to Atlanta where he scored his first album credits on holiday, gospel and neo jazz albums by some top Atlanta producers. He is a BMI member/ producer in his own right now and owner of B2 Music Group. He and Ron reconnected when Ron also relocated to Atlanta...Opus 23 was formed and the rest is history.
