I am Ron Finney the bassist of Opus 23. I am an established bassist for over 30 plus years of experience. I have performed many styles of music with emphasis on contemporary jazz, R&B, contemporary Christian, Jazz standards and some country and classic rock.
I have performed with many A list clients such as, saxophonist(s) PaulTaylor, Walter Beasley, Ronnie Laws, Marcus Anderson, Pamela Williams, Marcus Mitchell, Steve Garrison, Keyboardist Marcus Johnson, Singer Eric Roberson and others.
I was the bassist and manager for internationally known group Marcus Mitchell Project for 8 years and bassist and fill-in music director of the nationally known group Jazzy Blu.
I have shared the stage with many great performers such as, The Rippingtons, guitarist Russ Freeman, guitarist Peter White, saxophonist Eric Marienthal, saxophonist Marion Meadows, guitarist (the late) Nick Colionne, saxophonist Mike Phillips, singer Raheem DeVaughn, singer Roy Ayers, saxophonist Mindi Abair and others.
I have performed for various Jazz festivals in Cuba and here in the states, and some legendary Jazz clubs such as, Blues Alley in Washington DC, Spaghettini's Seal Beach CA, The Bake Potato, Studio City CA, Bethesda Blues and Jazz Theater Maryland, Ashford & Simpson's Sugar Bar New York, NY, just to name a few.
Currently, I am the bassist and musical director of the smooth Jazz group, OPUS 23 in which guitarist Brent Bailey and I started, out of the Atlanta, GA area.
